Cool Off From Extreme Heat At Ocean County's Libraries

The Ocean County Library System has 21 branches filled with reading materials. Beat the heat and avoid cabin fever by stopping by.

OCEAN COUNTY, NJ — If you're looking for a place to escape the heat Friday, the Ocean County Library is reminding residents that it has branches all over Ocean County where you can cool off and read.

The library system has 21 branches and while they are not official cooling centers, they "are a good place to visit to escape the summer heat," said Joseph H. Vicari, director of the Ocean County Board of Commissioners and liaison to the library system.

Friday's heat index is forecast to reach nearly 110 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

The library branches have different hours, so residents should call to check the hours.
