Delayed Opening For Toms River Schools Amid Extreme Cold

TOMS RIVER, NJ — The Toms River Regional School District will have a 90-minute delayed opening Tuesday due to the extreme cold, the district announced Monday night.

Temperatures were expected to get down to the single digits overnight in much of New Jersey as frigid weather sweeps across the area for most of the week.

The National Weather Service has predicted wind chills below zero, prompting warnings about taking precautions to avoid potential hypothermia.

The 90-minute delayed opening means morning preschool, the morning Y-Kids program and morning vocational programs are canceled.
