Dog, Cat License Renewals Due For 2023 In Toms River

Get the fee information and the forms to submit to get your pets licensed for 2023.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — The start of the new year also means it is time for Toms River residents who have dogs or cats (or both) to renew their licenses.

State law requires all dogs 7 months old or older to be licensed in New Jersey, and Toms River additionally requires licenses for cats.

The license term runs Jan. 1 to Dec. 31. Dogs and cats must be vaccinated for rabies to be licensed, and the vaccination must be valid for the duration of the license term.

The dog license form and cat license form can be downloaded and printed out.

  • The fee for a spayed or neutered dog is $15, and $20 for dog that has not been spayed or neutered.
  • The fee for a spayed or neutered cat is $9, and $12 for a cat that has not been spayed or neutered.

Proof of spaying/neutering by a licensed veterinarian must be submitted, along with proof of the rabies vaccination.

It must be postmarked by Jan. 31. Renewals postmarked after Jan. 31 must include the late fee ($5 for February, $10 if renewing in March).

Renewals also can be done in person at Toms River Town Hall, 33 Washington St.
