'Jersey Shore 2.0' Turned Down For Filming In 2 NJ Towns: Reports

The planned MTV show would be a reboot of the series that made Snooki and friends famous. So far, it doesn't have a home, however.

The home rented by the "Jersey Shore" cast in 2009 won't be seeing the roommates set for the "Jersey Shore 2.0" show, as Seaside Heights has said it's not interested in having it filmed in the borough, according to a report.

SEASIDE HEIGHTS, NJ — MTV has plans to bring a new cast of beach-going roommates to the Jersey Shore for a reboot of the show that made Snooki and friends famous in 2009, according to a report.

So far, however, attempts by 495 Productions to get permission to film the new show have been turned down in two towns, according to reports.

Seaside Heights, where the 2009 version was shot, "advised informally" the producers of the show that the borough would not welcome filming of a reality show during the summer, the Asbury Park Press reported.

Lavallette rejected the filming request as well, Lavallette-Seaside Shorebeat reported.

The reboot, Jersey Shore 2.0, was announced by Deadline, a Hollywood news website. The description of the show says the group "traded their poofs for plumped pouts and UV rays for spray tans, but when things heat up in Jersey, the Shore is still the place to be to make memories all summer long."

The rejections are not a huge surprise. Towns throughout Ocean County have been reluctant to welcome the productions in the years since the original "Jersey Shore" aired from 2009-2012, because of the wild antics of the group that included a major fight at the Bamboo Bar in June 2012 that resulted in arrests and assault charges being filed.

The original cast has settled down significantly since then, and only rarely make news. Nicole Polizzi, aka Snooki, has three children with her husband, Jhionni Lavalle, and a summer home in Toms River. She owns a clothing boutique that is set to open in Seaside Heights, for its third store, this summer. Read more: Snooki Opening Boutique In Seaside Heights
