'Passionate, Resilient, And Strong': Adrianna, Toms River Star Student
We all know students who excel in academics, fine arts or volunteer service. Here's one local resident who's having an impact in Toms River.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This submission comes from Jennifer Goodwin, who nominated her daughter, Adrianna, of Toms River.
Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
Adrianna, who's a senior, is a scholar-athlete. She continues to maintain her strong academic mindset while balancing her passion as a field hockey goalkeeper. She will be attending a Division 3 university on a merit scholarship to continue her studies as a nursing major, specifically, pediatrics. She will also continue to play goalkeeper. She balances her time with school, her many school-sponsored clubs, her travel field hockey team, and she works at a local grocery store. Her positive attitude is continually commended by her teachers, coaches, club advisers, managers, and fellow friends. She also enjoys painting, sculpting, and creating art in her down time. Adrianna is a passionate, resilient, and strong scholar-athlete who balances A LOT but does it with a smile. Adrianna is certainly a star local student.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?
She suffered an injury in her junior year, and this prevented her from playing field hockey (and softball), but she stayed strong and "coached" from the sidelines, and she didn't allow this to affect her love of the game. After 11 months in physical therapy, she has returned to her goalkeeping position — physically and mentally stronger.
Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Adrianna!
