Search Underway For Woman Missing In Island Heights

ISLAND HEIGHTS, NJ — Authorities are searching for a woman who went missing in Island Heights early Monday morning, the Ocean County Sheriff's Office said.

Karen McKenna was last seen at 4 a.m. and was wearing a black jacket, a white shirt and blue jeans, the sheriff's office said on its Facebook page.

Authorities have not released additional details regarding McKenna but Ocean County Sheriff Michael Mastronardy confirmed New Jersey State Police were assisting with the search.

A State Police helicopter could be seen in the area and flight patterns show it searched along the Toms River from Island Heights to the mouth of the river into Barnegat Bay.

Anyone who sees McKenna is asked to call police or dial 911.
