Sinkhole Disrupting Route 37 Traffic In Toms River
Part of Route 37 is blocked while repairs are being made, NJDOT cameras show.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — A sinkhole on Route 37 is causing traffic tie-ups west of the Garden State Parkway in Toms River on Friday afternoon.
Two lanes of westbound Route 37 were closed at Oak Ridge Parkway, and one lane was blocked going north on Oak Ridge Parkway from Lakehurst Road crossing Route 37.
The size of the sinkhole was not clear, and there was no estimate on when repairs would be completed.

Sinkholes have developed at this intersection in the past. In May 2023 a stormwater pipe broke, causing a sinkhole that closed part of the intersection for more than a day while the pipe was repaired.
