Slick Roads, Some Snow In Ocean County: Latest Updates

Drivers are being warned to take extra time and drive carefully as dropping temperatures have made the roads hazardous.

OCEAN COUNTY, NJ — Motorists are being urged to drive with caution Tuesday morning as dropping temperatures amid a winter storm are making roads hazardous in Ocean County, authorities said.

Snow was falling in some portions of the county as of 9 a.m., and the National Weather Service's updated forecast was calling for a coating of snow up to about 4 inches for Ocean County.

Northern portions of the county could see closer to 4 inches, according to the 5 a.m. forecast, with the southern tip of the county likely to get no more than a dusting.

A coastal flood warning remains in effect through 3 a.m. Wednesday for Ocean County, with significant flooding expected around the daytime high tides. On the oceanfront, high tide is about 10:20 a.m., with the back bay high tide arriving about 2 p.m.

The National Weather Service says the tides are expected to be about 2 feet higher than normal at the daytime high tide.

The effects are expected to ease by the time of the evening high tide Tuesday, about 11 p.m. on the oceanfront and about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday in the backbay areas.
