Stop & Shop Donates 1,000 Turkeys to Fulfill Food Bank During Drive-Up Thanksgiving Food Distribution For Locals in Need

Stop & Shop donated 1,000 Thanksgiving turkeys to Fulfill Food Bank as part of the supermarket’s annual Turkey Express program. The turkeys were handed out alongside other holiday trimmings at a drive-up distribution at the Food Bank’s headquarters in Neptune.
Stop & Shop’s annual Turkey Express program will deliver more than 21,500 turkeys to hunger relief organizations in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island this holiday season.
“Stop & Shop knows that food insecurity remains a challenge on the Jersey Shore,” said Stefanie Shuman, Stop & Shop’s External Communications Manager for New Jersey. “Stop & Shop is proud to support Fulfill’s efforts to ensure families across Monmouth and Ocean Counties will have access to a Thanksgiving meal.”

“The generosity of Stop & Shop, at the holidays and throughout the year, is incredible,” said Lauren Holman, Fulfill's Board Chair. “The 1,000 turkeys donated by Stop & Shop will help families who have yet to recover from the pandemic put food on the table here at the Jersey Shore."
- Pre-pandemic, Fulfill served 136,000 people, including 50,000 children. Today, Fulfill serves 215,000 people, including 70,000 children.
- Fulfill has experienced a 40% increase in the demand for food since the start of the pandemic.
- In its fiscal year 2021, Fulfill served over 13.9 million pounds of food and over 11.7 million meals.
- Pre-pandemic, 1 in 10 residents in Monmouth & Ocean Counties were food insecure. Today, that number stands at 1 in 6.
