Why Dismantle USAID

LETTER TO EDITOR:

Re:NJ.com

Ms Sforza clearly informed us that Public Citizen Litigation Group and Democracy Forward has filed a lawsuit on behalf of the American Foreign Service Association and American Federation of Government Employees against Donald Trump, Marco Rubio, Scott Bessent and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the State Department, and the Department of Treasury for closing USAID, causing a worldwide humanitarian catastrophe. As a nurse working alongside USAID workers in Haiti many times over the years providing healthcare, food, shelter, medicines and comfort to millions of Haitians since 2010. Now, as outlined by Ms Sforza, USAID staff has been fired, put on leave and THE COMPLAINT HAS FROZEN ALL FUNDS. As outlined by Lauren Bateman, the dissolution of USAID is not only illegal and unconstitutional, but rather, despicably unjust…costing lives and put in harm’s way the physical and emotional safety of all American workers who have dedicated their careers towards humanitarianism. This termination is unnecessarily cruel and unconstitutional. The Destruction of USAID HAS THROWN THE THOUSANDS OF THESE HONORABLE EMPLOYEES under the bus, causing tremendous familial, financial and demographic chaos in the lives of these dedicated public servants. Not mentioning disrupting the worldwide harmony and sustenance. USAID, although clearly having some infrastructural problems which need to be addressed in a timely manner, can be restructured to return to full efficacy. Getting ‘rid’ of USAID is simply reckless.
