Woman Struck by Vehicle Crossing Route 34 Tuesday Night Dies
Police confirmed that a woman died Tuesday night after being struck by a car while crossing Route 34 in the township.

Police confirmed that a woman died Tuesday night after being struck by a car while crossing Route 34 in the township, according to a news report in the Asbury Park Press.
The woman, whose name was not identified at the time, was walking at the intersection with Allenwood Road just before 9 p.m. when she was struck by a 2004 Volvo V70 heading south, based on a news release. The Volvo had a green light.
Paramedics pronounced the woman dead at the scene.

Wall police, Glendola Fire Department, Wall EMS and MONOC, The Monmouth Ocean Hospital Service Corporation, were dispatched to the site, the report said. The Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and the NJ Department of Transportation Emergency Response team also responded.
Route 34 was shut down until after midnight, with detours in place, according to 511nj.org.

Wall police Lt. Chad Clark, Sgt. Ed Lister, Patrolman Andrew Baldino and Detective Michael Steitz continue to investigate the crash.
