WARREN, NJ — The Goldberg family of Westfield is heartbroken after their beloved Lelia escaped on Friday night.

Leila was being watched by friends in Scotch Plains on Friday when she escaped. She was last spotted on Sunday morning off Johnston Drive in Watchung near the Warren border.

Neil Goldberg and his daughter Becca were out driving on Mt. Bethel Road in Warren on Monday morning for a report of Leila. The dog spotted was in fact another missing dog - a male Havanese who looked very tired, said Goldberg.

"We want to bring our puppy home safe and sound," said Goldberg.

Leila weighs about 41 pounds and is very friendly but is skittish. She loves to run and will run away thinking you are playing games if you attempt to approach her.

"The best way to try and trap her is with treats or in an enclosed area such as a fenced-in back yard or front porch or maybe if you get lucky she’ll jump in the car," said Goldberg.

Leila has her collars on and is wearing a blue WVU bandana.
