Green Brook Baseball Club Treasurer Used Funds For Personal Use: Prosecutor

GREEN BROOK, NJ — A Green Brook Baseball Club Treasurer was arrested for misusing around $29,000 of the club's funds for his own personal use over four years, said Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives John W. Fodor and Greenbrook Township Chief of Police William Coward on Monday.
John M. Brault, 42, of Heritage Drive, Green Brook, was charged with third-degree theft by deception, said McDonald.
In May 2022, the Special Investigations Unit of the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office was notified of a report of a suspected theft by deception on the part of the treasurer of the Green Brook Baseball Club organization in the Township of Green Brook.

An investigation conducted by detectives from the Special Investigation Unit and the Green Brook Police Department found that from July 2018 to May 2022, and while acting as treasurer, Brault had been misusing around $29,000 in funds belonging to the Green Brook Baseball Club funds for his personal use, said McDonald.
On Feb. 2, Brault was arrested by the Green Brook Township Police Department without incident.

Brault was processed at the Green Brook Police Department and released pending his court date in this matter.
