WARREN, NJ — A sad update to share in the search for Macie who was found dead on Saturday, her family said.

"We're so sorry to share that this morning, we found our sweet little Macie's body on the side of a road, not far from where the dog boarder lost her," Jason Blake shared in the Macie the Havapoo Facebook group.

Blake created the group after his family's 10-pound white Havapoo went missing on Feb. 23 from K9 Experts at 25d Hillcrest Road in Warren.

"We'll never be able to thank all of you even close to enough for the immeasurable support you've given us over the past week and a half. Even through this morning, many of you have been out flyering, posting, telling people and keeping your eyes and ears open for our missing Macie," said Blake. "Every time we were losing hope, it was all of you: our friends, family, the entire communities of Warren and Watchung, awesome people from neighboring towns to across the country, police departments, shelters, vets, and so many more people who kept us believing we'd find her and bring her back home."

Blake and his family were in Florida when they got the call that she was lost. They immediately cut their vacation short to fly home overnight and begin their search.

Blake said the dog escaped through a gap in the fence at the boarding facility which is surrounded by a heavily wooded area.

"While we cannot physically bring her home with us, Macie's amazing spirit and supportive love will always be with us and all of you, including the many of you who never even got a chance to meet her. She would've loved all of you. R.I.P. Macie," said Blake.
