Tractor-Trailer Hauling Hazardous Materials Catches Fire On I-78
Volunteer firefighters from Warren, Watchung, Berkeley Heights and Somerset County Haz-Mat came to help control the situation on Wednesday.
WARREN, NJ — A tractor-trailer hauling hazardous material caught fire on Interstate 78 in Warren on Wednesday night.
At around 10:48 p.m., the Warren Township Fire Department was called to a reported tractor-trailer fire on I-78 West.
Mt. Bethel Fire Company arrived first and quickly knocked down the bulk of the fire.

The trailer was found to be carrying hazardous materials, requiring a coordinated and cautious response, said the fire department.
Watchung Fire Department, along with Berkeley Heights Fire Department, Community Fire Company #3, and Somerset County Haz-Mat, also came to help.

"Thankfully, the driver of the truck disconnected the truck from the trailer before the fire spread further and was unscathed," said the Watchung Fire Department.
The incident was brought under control thanks to the swift actions of all responding departments.
