Resident Calls 911 As Burglars Break Into Occupied Somerset County Home, 2 Arrested: Cops
The quick actions of a 911 caller, Warren and Bernards Twp. Police Officers, & the use of Automated License Plate Readers led to the arrest.

WARREN, NJ — Two men were arrested for breaking into an occupied home in Warren thanks to the quick actions of a 911 caller, Warren and Bernards Township Police Officers, and the use of Automated License Plate Readers, said authorities.
Jeremy Proleon-Carmen, 20, of Paterson, and Julio L. Ponce-Giannotti, 44, of Clifton, were charged with second-degree burglary, second-degree conspiracy to commit burglary, and fourth-degree criminal mischief, said Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of Detectives Francisco Roman Jr., Warren Township Police Chief Robert W. Ferreiro, and Bernards Township Police Chief Timothy King.
On Wednesday at around 10:07 a.m., police got a 911 call of a burglary in progress at an occupied home on Briarwood Drive East in Warren Township.

The caller said someone was entering the home through a basement window and described the suspect vehicle leaving the scene to police, said McDonald.
Officers went to the area and within minutes, were able to use Automated License Plate Readers (ALPR) to identify a suspect vehicle that matched the description provided by the caller.

It was then determined that the suspect vehicle also had a stolen New Jersey license plate and was driving north in the area of Liberty Corner Road.
A Bernards Township patrol officer found the suspect vehicle and stopped it on Mount Airy Road in Bernards Township, said McDonald.
Detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutors' Office Burglary Unit, along with officers from the Warren Township Police Department, went to the motor vehicle stop and arrested Proleon-Carmen and Ponce-Giannotti
Proleon-Carmen and Ponce-Giannotti were remanded to the Somerset County Jail pending a Superior Court detention hearing in this matter.
McDonald "commends the Warren Township Police Department, the Bernards Township Police Department, and the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Burglary Task Force for working together and sharing critical information in a timely fashion which led to the identification and apprehension of these suspects."
