Green Brook School Filings Two Short for Full Board

Only two candidates filed to run in November for the four open Green Brook Board of Education seats, according to the Somerset County Clerk's Office.

Edgewood Avenue resident Gerald Binder and current board President James Benscoter, of Greenbrier Road, filed for re-election to the board, but the terms of board members Anna Maillaro and Andrew Boccio also expire at the end of the year.

With only two candidates on the ballot, the door is open for write-in bids in the general election—or board bylaws stipulate the county school superintendent will name the other board members, according to Superintedent Richard Labbe.

The deadline for filing was 4 p.m. June 4.
