Motorists from Bernardsville Allegedly Had 88 Bags Of Heroin In Cup Holder: Police

Bernardsville residents charged following Route 80 traffic stop, police said.

Two Bernardsville residents were charged with possession of heroin after police saw 88 bags of of the drug in the cup holder of the car they were in, police said.

Wayne police officers stopped a 2000 Acura on Route 80 West for careless driving on the Route 46-23 interchange, Capt. Laurence Martin said.

The driver and passenger were nervous, shaking, and breathing rapidly and the driver, Timothy C. Williams, 28, had fresh track marks on his arm, Martin said, and Williams and the passenger, Daniel T. Grant, 27, gave conflicting stories about their travel plans.

There were 88 bags of suspected heroin stamped “SHOWTIME” in blue ink in the car’s center cup holder, police said.

Williams and Grant were were both charged with possession of heroin, Martin said. William was also issued motor vehicle summonses for possession of heroin in a motor vehicle and failure to maintain lanes.
