You Can Help Support Children Struggling With Dyslexia

The Children's Dyslexia Center in Scotch Plains hopes to raise money through an online campaign to provide its free services.

Bringing free services to children struggling with dyslexic symptoms -- like having trouble with numbers and spelling -- doesn't come cheap.

According to the Children's Dyslexia Center website, it costs about $5,000 annually to tutor just one child.

So the Scotch Plains campus has turned to the web to create a crowd funding campaign on gofundme.com to help raise money to support the center's programs.

Created by Americo De Stefanis last month, the campaign hopes to raise $50,000 for the center, which he adds is funded solely through donations and that its staff and board of directors are not compensated.

"Our continued success relies solely on fundraising since our services are offered to children absolutely free of charge," he says.
