SOMERVILLE, NJ — Bridgewater family-owned and operated Liquor Saver has been in business for nearly 30 years. Now they have made a huge move by opening in a much larger location.

Run by Joy Amin and her daughter Pearl, the store moved across Union Avenue(Route 28) to the empty Rite Aid building at 132 N Gaston Ave. in Somerville.

This expanded the size of their store from a 2,500 square foot space to 11,000.

"It's such an amazing experience. I think most people don't get to have in their life that even at my parents' age, we get to grow together, spend so much time together, and work with this common goal. So it's really exciting. It's really fun," said Pearl Amin.

The added space allows for 6-foot wide aisles with enough room to use a shopping cart when shopping for parties or events.

Additionally, Amin said they are expanding their product offerings.

"I know that Rite Aid kind of left a void where a lot of people came for their drinks and snacks. So we're going to be offering a lot more drinks, alcoholic and non alcoholic, as well as snacks," said Amin.

They will also offer newer or trendier products, such as THC drinks to non-alcoholics, such as spritzers, spritz wines, and champagnes.

Amin is also looking to promote women-owned products.

"My mom and I run the company so we're offering lots of local products, such as local wines, local vodkas and as well as women owned brands. We have Gratsi, which is a sugar-free boxed wine. Things our women customers have been asking for," said Amin. "We definitely want to support the community, as well as women-founded companies, because in this industry, there are not a lot of women working in the store, as well as women-founded products. So we're definitely trying to expand on that."

Being so close to Downtown Somerville, Amin said they are working on a menu that the BYOB restaurants could use.

Tastings, engraving, and delivery through Door Dash is also offered.

"As a family business deeply connected to the community, we’ve also remained committed to supporting local organizations and initiatives. This move allows us to continue growing thoughtfully while staying true to the values that have defined us from the beginning," said Amin.
