All Residents Safe After 7-Alarm Fire Destroys NJ Building: Officials
The massive fire began early Sunday at the mixed-use building. A resident was originally thought to be missing, but has been accounted for.
PATERSON, NJ — All residents are accounted for after a massive fire Sunday that destroyed a mixed-use apartment building in Paterson, but have been displaced, officials said.
Paterson firefighters first responded to the blaze near the corner of Broadway and Straight Street at around 3 a.m., according to a post from the city fire department.
Multiple other fire companies responded to help battle the blaze, which took about 12 hours to fully contain, as NJ.com reported.

The mixed-use building at 195 Broadway had businesses on the ground floor and apartments upstairs. Officials said it was completely destroyed after the roof collapsed into the second floor.
One apartment resident was originally believed to be missing, but he returned to the scene later Sunday, according to a report by News12.

No other injuries were reported.
The American Red Cross - New Jersey Chapter said it is providing housing and other assistance to 12 people from seven families.
