WAYNE, NJ — A Wayne Township family lost their two pet dogs in a house fire earlier this week, according to officials and a report.
The blaze broke out at a home in the first block of Judith Place on Tuesday morning at around 1:30 a.m., said Wayne Fire Company #4 in a social media post.
"Crews fought heavy fire in the rear of the structure and across the entire attic, where it eventually burned through the roof," firefighters said.

As Jon Meredith of TAPinto Wayne reported, a pet cat was able to escape the home, but fire officials said both of the family's dogs perished in the fire.
Frank Velardi, the Township Fire Commissioner, told TAPinto that the fire is still under investigation, and may have started on the ranch home's back porch.
