2 Passaic County Teens Charged With Attempted Murder

Two Passaic County teenagers were charged with attempted murder after they shot at an 18-year-old in Passaic Jan. 1, authorities announced.

Luis A. Ledesma, 18, of Passaic, and a 15-year-old were arrested Thursday in connection to a shooting that occurred in Passaic Tuesday, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes announced.

Both Ledesma and the 15-year-old were arrested after authorities investigated the shooting. Passaic Police officers responded to Third and Bergen streets on a call of shots fired Tuesday, but they could not find a victim, Valdes said.

An 18-year-old Passaic resident was the target of the shooting, but was not hurt, Valdes said.

Ledesma and the teenager were charged with first-degree attempted murder, conspiracy, aggravated assault, and various weapons charges. Ledesma faces up to 20 years in New Jersey State Prison if found guilty of the attempted murder charge alone.

The state has filed a motion in Superior Court for pretrial detention for Ledesma. The complaint against the juvenile was filed with the Family Division of Superior Court.

The teenager faces 20 years in state custody if found guilty of the charges filed against him.
