Blown Tire Critically Injures Wayne Bicyclist: Police
The man remains in critical condition in the hospital, authorities said.
WAYNE, NJ — A township man was critically injured after a tire blew out and hit him on Black Oak Ridge Road Wednesday afternoon, authorities announced.
James DeSalvo, 53, was riding his bicycle near 309 Black Oak Ridge Road when a tire on a 2007 Mack dump truck going south blew out and detached from the vehicle, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia Valdes said in a news release.
After the tire detached from the vehicle, it rolled south on the shoulder of Black Oak Ridge Road and hit DeSalvo; police officers responded to a report about the accident at about 1:32 p.m., Valdes said.

DeSalvo was taken to St. Joseph's University Medical Center in Paterson where he was in critical condition Thursday morning, the prosecutor said.
The dump truck was fully loaded with asphalt when the tire blew out. No charges were filed against the driver, however authorities are still investigating what happened, Valdes said.
