Boy, 13, Injured In North Jersey Shooting: Prosecutor

The shooting took place on Wednesday shortly after 5 p.m., officials said.

PATERSON, NJ — A 13-year-old boy was taken to the hospital after being shot on Wednesday in Paterson, said officials.

The shooting took place at approximately 5:15 p.m. on May 22 near the corner of Putnam Street and Mercer Street, said the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office and Paterson Police. Responding officers found the boy with a non-fatal gunshot wound, and he was transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center for treatment.

There is an ongoing investigation into the shooting and more information will be released when it is available, said Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson PD Officer-In-Charge Isa Abbassi in a joint statement on Wednesday.
