Cops Find Marijuana-Laced Cereal Snacks In NJ Pair's Car: Police

PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — Police found dozens of snacks and bags of cereal "inundated" with marijuana and THC and $14,000 inside an SUV during a traffic stop earlier this month, authorities announced.
Haledon Police officers noticed that Connie and Jason Rivera were not wearing their seat belts and stopped the 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe at 8:42 a.m. March 11, said Lt. George Guzman.
Police searched the vehicle and found three plastic bags of Fruity Pebble snacks, three Captain Crunch snacks, and 15 Fruit Loops snacks"inundated" with THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, Guzman said.

There were also 15 assorted cereal snacks, seven zip lock baggies, three plastic bags, a glass jar, containing marijuana, and a glass jar containing marijuana puree, Guzman said.
Police also found $14,000 during the traffic stop, the lieutenant said.

Police also found items allegedly used to make the snacks, including a mixing bowl, brown sugar, Nesquik chocolate syrup, and a measuring cup.
Connie and Jason Rivera were taken to the Passaic County Jail pending a court appearance.
"I commend my officers for their proactive police work," said Haledon Police Chief Angelo Daniele.
