WAYNE, NJ — The driver of the vehicle who authorities say caused the triple fatal crash at a Route 23 gas station Tuesday has a history of driving while intoxicated and being revived with Narcan, a police affidavit states.

Jason Vanderee, 29, was convicted in November 2016 of driving while impaired and was administered Narcan to revive him, the affidavit for the Wayne crash says.

Vanderee was also administered Narcan on Tuesday. Narcan is the brand name of the drug naloxone, which police and emergency responders use to revive someone experiencing an opioid overdose.

"The defendant, Jason Vanderee, was exhibiting signs of being under the influence of opiates and was administered Narcan by responding paramedics," the affidavit states.

Vanderee had nine glassine bags of heroin on him, along with several empty ones; authorities found a used hypodermic needle on the floor of his vehicle, the affidavit states.

Vanderee's vehicle was going "at an excesive rate of speed" went airborne as it crashed into a vehicle and went over another one at the Delta gas station on Route 23 North just after 8:45 a.m. Tuesday, authorities said.

While airborne, the vehicle also hit an air pump and sign at the gas station before stopping, authorities said.

Vanderee was arrested and charged with three counts of death by auto and aggravated manslaughter and driving while intoxicated.

Vanderee is scheduled to attend a detention hearing before Passaic County Superior Court Judge Ernest Caposela Monday morning.

Three people died in the crash: Jon Warbeck, 50, of Fair Lawn and his 17-year-old son, Luke, of Lincoln Park, and Lovedeep Fatra, 22, of Pequannock, who was an attendant at the gas station. The Warbecks were in a 2012 Chevrolet Camaro whose roof was ripped off in the crash, according to reports.

Jon and Luke Warbeck were inseparable and spent a lot of times outdoors together, their family said. Luke was a junior at Boonton High

"It was clear to anyone that knew Jon, that his true passion in life was his son, Luke," Jon's family said in his obituary. "When Luke signed up for the Boy Scouts, it prompted Jon to become a Boy Scout leader."

A joint funeral for the Warbecks is Sunday.
