Fire Extinguished Near Route 23 Interchange Friday, Officials Say

Traffic was affected near the interchange of Routes 23 and 202 for some time Friday.

WAYNE, NJ — Crews have extinguished a fire near the Route 23 and Route 202 interchange, officials said Friday afternoon.

Wayne Police had the service road between Route 23 southbound and Ratzer Road closed for several hours.

New Jersey is currently in a prolonged dry spell, so forest fire officials have been warning that any flames that catch could spread quickly. Stage 3 fire restrictions are in effect statewide, meaning all outdoor fires are prohibited unless they are contained in an elevated stove that only uses propane, natural gas, gas, or electricity.
