Guns Seized After Fight At North Jersey School Friday: Reports
Three guns were seized at a North Jersey high school during a lockdown prompted by a student brawl on Friday, multiple reports say.
PATERSON, NJ - Three guns were seized at a North Jersey high school on Friday, the result of a lockdown following a student brawl in a first-floor hallway, multiple reports say.
Paterson Superintendent Eileen Shafer told NorthJersey.com the lockdown at John F. Kennedy High School began at 11 a.m. once the fight started and became a shelter-in-place at 1 p.m.
One of the students involved in the fight was found with a gun, the outlet reported, with two other guns taken from a student outside the school and a man standing across the street from the school. All were arrested on gun possession charges.

None of the weapons were fired during the incident, the outlet added.
The student outside the school had attempted to get inside but was stopped by security guards, NBC New York reported.

Starting Monday, everyone entering John F. Kennedy High School will be subject to security checks starting Monday, the outlet added.
Though the school has metal detectors at its main entrance, it was not immediately clear whether they were in use Friday or what other security measures would be added.
