Icy Conditions Delay School Start Time In Wayne

Frigid temperatures are expected to make surfaces very slick in the morning, the National Weather Service said.

WAYNE, NJ — All Wayne Township Schools will be on a delayed opening schedule on Wednesday due to weather conditions, the district announced on Tuesday night

All buses will run on a 90-minute delay and students should expect transportation delays due to icy road conditions.

Before Care will be open at 8:45 a.m., the district said.

Here are the delayed opening schedules:

  • High School: 8:50 a.m.–2:19 p.m.
  • Middle School: 9:30 a.m.–2:45 p.m.
  • Elementary: 10:25 a.m.–3:20 p.m.
  • Preschool Full Day: 9:50 a.m.–2:45 p.m.
  • Preschool AM: 9:50 a.m.–11:50 a.m.
  • Preschool PM: 12:45 p.m.–2:45 p.m.

Temperatures are expected to drop to around 12 degrees on Tuesday night. Wayne Township saw more than an inch of snow fall overnight on Monday which will cause any wet surfaces to freeze.

"Untreated water and slush will almost certainly become rock-hard by morning as temps drop well into the teens across most of the area tonight," the National Weather Service Mount Holly office said Tuesday evening. "In addition, winds will make it feel 10-15 degrees colder! Bundle up!"
