Man Hit By Car, Dies In Passaic County
There is an ongoing investigation into the crash on Thursday night by the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office and Pompton Lakes Police.
PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — Authorities are investigating a car crash where a pedestrian was hit and killed on Thursday night in Pompton Lakes.
On Jan. 18, at approximately 7:58 p.m., the Pompton Lakes Police Department responded to the area of Ringwood Avenue near Carr Street for the report of a pedestrian hit by a motor vehicle, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said.
The pedestrian, identified as Daniel Schneider, a 69-year-old man from Bloomingdale, was taken to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center, where he was subsequently pronounced dead.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene with the police, Valdes said.
The circumstances and events leading to the crash remain under investigation by authorities. More information will be released when it becomes available, Valdes said.
