Man Killed After Being Hit By Truck On Rt. 23 In Wayne
The incident occurred on Route 23 north by Black Oak Ridge Road.
WAYNE, NJ – A man was killed after being struck by a FedEx truck in Wayne on Thursday morning, according to authorities.
Around 9:47 a.m., officers responded to the area of Black Oak Ridge Road and Route 23 north after receiving a report that a pedestrian had been hit, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Wayne Police Chief Jack McNiff said in a joint press release.
After further investigation, police determined the truck’s driver, Douglas Dow, a 44-year-old from Cedar Grove, was heading north on Route 23 when he struck the pedestrian, authorities said.

Authorities did not say why the man was in the roadway. He was taken to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson, where he was pronounced dead at 10:24 a.m., authorities said.
He was then transported to the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office in Newark and is pending and autopsy and positive identification, authorities said.

Dow remained at the scene of the collision and has not been charged at this time.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident, authorities said.
