A train on the Main line struck and killed a man at about 8:30 a.m., officials said.

A NJ Transit train struck and killed a man in Paterson Monday morning, officials said.
A train on the Main line struck and killed a man at the Fifth Avenue crossing at about 8:30 a.m., said NJ Transit spokesman Nathan Rudy.
The train, which departed from Hoboken, was a non-revenue train and was transporting equipment, Rudy said.

Service was temporarily suspended on the Main line. There were three crew members on board, none of whom were injured, Rudy said.
NJ Transit did not identify the man.

NJ Transit and Paterson Police are investigating the incident.
There are 30-minute delays between Paterson and Ridgewood on the Main line following the incident, Rudy said.
