MLK Jr. Day Of Service Opportunities In Wayne
Looking for a way to help this year on the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service? Check out how you can help these local organizations.

WAYNE, NJ — Looking for a way to help your community during this year's Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service? There are several ways to give back on Monday.
Here are a few opportunities and ideas, email Daniel.Hubbard@patch.com if you have more to share:
- Foster a dog or cat from Friends of Wayne Animals. FOWA is dedicated to the welfare, sheltering and placement of homeless animals. It educates the public about the humane treatment of animals, preventing animal cruelty, stopping the overpopulation epidemic, and promoting animal welfare. You could also volunteer at the Wayne Township Animal Shelter.
- Cook a meal at Eva's Village, a community kitchen in Paterson. Eva's Village serves its guests rather than making them wait in line. Meals are served daily in the kitchen and are sent out to community food shelters. Volunteers must be at least 15 years old and attend an orientation session first.
- Donate to the Wayne Interfaith Network's food pantry. Items must be non-perishable with no dents or cracks in cans or bottles and no open boxes or containers. The most needed items include: Chef-Boyardee pastas, canned chili and fruit, and pasta sauce. Donations may be dropped off at the Wayne YMCA, 1 Pike Drive from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m..
- Volunteer at the Boys & Girls Club of Wayne, 153 Garside Ave. There are a lot of opportunities to help, from making sure the club runs smoothly to working directly with kids.
- Donate your time at the Wayne Township Animal Shelter.
