NJ Mom Busts Son For Using Alexa To Cheat On Homework: Video

6-year-old Jariel asked, "Alexa, what's 5 minus 3?" Then his mom walked into the room.

PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — A North Jersey mother caught her son cheating on his math homework with some high-tech help.

Yerelyn Cueva, 24, posted a video on Twitter of her 6-year-old son, Jariel, asking, "Alexa, what's 5 minus 3?"

The Amazon Echo replied with the right answer. Then his mom walked into the room.

"I'm in the living room, and I overheard him asking Alexa some math problems, and I could not believe it," Cueva, a Paterson resident, told the New York Post. "What you don't see is after he says, 'Thank you, Alexa, for helping me with my homework.'"

The 8-second clip has been viewed more than 8.2 million times since it was posted Dec. 20.

Cueva said her son has always "been ahead of the curve" in school and was just "taking a shortcut" by using the Echo, according to the report.
