Passaic Man Faces Aggravated Assault, Kidnapping Charges After Robbery
Officials said the 23-year-old forced another man back into his apartment at gunpoint and then stole marijuana, cash, and liquor.
CLIFTON, NJ — A Clifton man has been charged in an armed robbery, where officials said he forced a Bergen County resident into his own apartment at gunpoint and stole $900 from him.
Officials charged 23-year-old Jahan A. Hendley, 23, with first-degree kidnapping, first-degree armed robbery, burglary, terroristic threats, two weapons charges, aggravated assault, and simple assault on May 20.
The Bergen County Prosecutor's office said that the investigation began when Allendale Police were called to an apartment complex for a reported dispute at approximately 3:48 p.m. on Monday, March 25.

Police were originally told that an armed robbery occurred and that the assailant fled the scene. But a further probe by police and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Squad determined that the victim was first confronted outside of his home, prosecutors said.
Hendley reportedly displayed a handgun and led the victim back inside his apartment. During the robbery, he also assaulted the victim, prosecutors said.

Hendley allegedly stole marijuana, approximately $900 in cash, and a bottle of liquor from the residence, prosecutors said.
While fleeing, Hendley pointed his gun at another victim who was unrelated to the incident, prosecutors said.
Prosecutors said the incident "is not believed to be a random occurrence," but would not elaborate or mention how they identified Hendley as a suspect.
Hendley was already in Bergen County Jail on an unrelated matter and will remain there, prosecutors said.
