Pedestrian Struck And Killed Trying To Cross Highway In Passaic County
Officials said the driver called 911 after hitting the pedestrian along Route 21.
PASSAIC, NJ — Officials said a pedestrian died after being struck by a car, while he was trying to cross State Route 21 in Passaic last week.
The crash happened shortly after 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office and city police.
Authorities said the pedestrian was attempting to cross the northbound lanes of the highway, when the driver of an Acura sedan hit him. The driver called 911, and stayed at the scene to talk to law enforcement.

First responders transported the unidentified victim to St. Joseph's University Medical Center, and officials said he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
Officials did not say exactly where the crash took place, and have not announced any charges against the driver.
