See History Come Alive At Dey Mansion
During the two- day event, the public will be able to observe what life was like during the American Revolution for soldiers.
WAYNE, NJ – History will come alive in Wayne during a planned two-day re-enactment of Gen. George Washington’s Revolutionary War encampment at the Dey Mansion.
During this family friendly event, scheduled for Oct. 26 and 27, the New Jersey Local Militia will set up camp on the historic grounds and live the life of a soldier during the American Revolution.
The mansion, which dates back to the early 1700s, served as Washington’s headquarters twice, once in July 1780 and again in Oct. 1780. It served as a safe haven for the Continental Army, offering shelter and abundant food.
