Wayne Homeowner Injured While Chasing Masked Burglars From House: PD
The resident said he woke up to masked people in his bedroom, who ran when he confronted them; he needed stitches after hurting his head.
WAYNE, NJ — A Wayne resident needed stitches on his head after he fell while chasing masked burglars from his home on Wednesday morning, police said.
Officials are still searching for the perpetrators, and said they came into the home after breaking the lock on one of the first-floor windows, then stole several key fobs.
The homeowner, who lives in the Valley section of town, told police that he woke up around 5 a.m. and saw multiple people in his bedroom. He confronted the suspects, who ran out of the home and then drove away in a light-colored sedan, according to police.

While chasing them, the homeowner fell and hurt his head, an injury that later required stitches. Police said that the burglars had stolen the keys to vehicles sitting in the home's driveway, and were likely looking for more when the resident confronted them.
The suspects appear to have removed the window screen and broken the lock on the window before climbing into the home, investigators said.
