Wayne PD Arrest Man for Possession of Heroin, Prescription Pills in Food Town Parking Lot
The arrest came after someone reported an ambulance was needed for a man who was sleeping in a 2004 Ford Explorer that was turned on.

Wayne Police say a 24-year-old man was arrested last week after police found he was in possession of heroin and prescription pills.
The arrest came after someone reported an ambulance was needed for a man who was sleeping in a 2004 Ford Explorer that was turned on and taking up two parking spaces in the Food Town parking lot on Route 23 North Friday, according to Wayne Captain Laurence Martin.
When police arrived just before 6:30 p.m., the vehicle’s occupant, Michael P. Powasnick, 24, of Vernon, was “sitting up but looking down with his head lowered” and began attempting to conceal items when he saw police approaching.

An investigation revealed an “assortment of ripped open glassine baggies, commonly used to hold heroin, stuffed in to the center console cup holder in plain view,” as well as 17 bags of suspected heroin, ten bags stamped “Rush Hour,” seven bags stamped “Misfits, an orange cap syringe and six circular pills imprinted “K7,” which turned out to be prescription pill Clonazpam.
Powasnick, who was not in need of medical attention, was arrested and charged with possession of heroin, possession of prescription drugs without a prescription, possession of drug paraphernalia and was issued a motor vehicle summons for possession of drugs in a motor vehicle, Captain Martin said.
