Wayne PD Crack Down on Drugs, Arrest Two for Marijuana
The two separate incidents were a result of police smelling and/or seeing suspected marijuana during traffic stops.
The Wayne Police Department is cracking down on drugs, and the last two weekends have been no exception.
Police arrested a Passaic County man March 13 after a traffic stop revealed the driver had raw marijuana in the vehicle.
Wayne Police stopped the vehicle on Valley Road and Huff Road at 9 p.m. due to equipment violations and were met with ”a strong odor of raw marijuana,” Captain Laurence Martin said.

The other marijuana arrest came the week after, when police found marijuana during another traffic stop.
Wayne Police were on Hamburg Turnpike when they saw a black Saab with extinguised tailights infront of them on March 19.
Police pulled the vehicle over and were met with “an overpowering odor of raw marijuana” while speaking to the driver, Eric Greenblatt, 26, of Wayne, according to Captain Martin.
Greenblatt told police he had been smoking marijuana in the car earlier that morning, but police - smelling an “overpowering odor of raw unsmoked marijuana” coming from Greenblatt’s jacket - searched and found one sandwich bag containing suspected marijuana.
Greenblatt was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana under 5 grams, and was issued motor vehicle summonses for possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle and failure to maintain lamps.
He was released on a summons compliant pending court dates.
