Cops Seize Drugs, Gun, And Cash In North Jersey Bust; 2 Charged: Officials

Wayne PD was involved in the long-term investigation, which culminated in officials searching 10 locations in three counties on Monday.

WAYNE, NJ — Two North Haledon residents face drug charges after a long-term narcotics investigation spearheaded by the Wayne Police Department and Passaic County Prosecutor's office, officials said.

Officers from multiple jurisdictions conducted raids at 10 locations in Passaic, Bergen, and Sussex counties on Sunday and seized a variety of drugs along with a handgun and more than $107,000, officials said.

Investigators had been targeting Demoy Woolley and Qa’Lasia Williams in the investigation, said Wayne Police Department Chief Jack McNiff and Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes in a news release.

While executing the search warrants, officials said they seized the following:

  • $107,089 in US currency
  • One Taurus 9mm handgun with high-capacity magazine
  • 56 rounds of ammunition
  • 12,100 glassines of suspected heroin/fentanyl
  • 1 ounce of raw suspected heroin/fentanyl
  • 9.5 ounces of suspected cocaine/crack cocaine
  • 8 pounds of suspected marijuana
  • Several large bottles of promethazine, an antihistamine

Woolley, 23, and Williams, 25 are both charged with first-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance with the intent to distribute, third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance, third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of school property, and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child.
