Wayne Public Library Releases Calendar of Young Adult Activities for March

Go Green for St. Patrick's Day; #TeenTechWeek2015 Raffle; Google: Hacks!; Chess Club and more.

The Wayne Public Library has released its Young Adult Activities for the month of March:

Go Green for St. Patrick’s Day - March 5, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Sample tasty greens with ShopRite Dietitian Heather Shasa for St. Patrick’s Day and your well-being. Open to kids in grades 5-12.

#TeenTechWeek2015 Raffle - March 8 to March 14

Three winners will be drawn for their choice of a 3.75GB flash drive, earbuds, or an iPhone 4 or 5 case. Open to students in grades 6-12. Entry must include an answer to: In what meaningful way do libraries help teens gain digital literacy skills needed to be successful? Tickets can be filled out next to Children’s desk and winners will be notified on March 15.

Google: Hacks! - March 12, 6:15 to 7:15 p.m.

#TeenTechWeek with Computer Expert James Clayton, who will show students awesome Google Hacks. Enjoy and learn the power of Google besides just searching for websites. Students can find out what “good” hacking is and learn cool things to do. Registration limited to Wayne kids in grades 6-12. Spaces are limited; sign-ups start March 3.

WPL Y.A. Chess Club - March 28, 1 to 2:30 p.m.

Students in grades 5-12 are welcome to play chess against each other in the Story Time room. Online registration is required and begins March 20.

Tech-help from Teens for your Electronic Devices - March 30, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Inspect Your Gadget! Get device advice from VolunTeens. Participants should bring their portable electronics and questions for one-on-one help. Register in advance with the Children’s Department starting March 20.

Young Adults in grades 6-12 interested in volunteering their time and tech skills should contact Eleana to enlist as a helper.

There are also some February youth adult programs students can register for and attend:

  1. Thursday at 6:15 p.m., Gaming Get-Together, BYOD. For kids in grades 5-8.
  2. Saturday at 3 p.m., Chess Club. Grades 5-12.
