In July, federal agents alerted Wayne police that packages containing THC products were being shipped from Canada to the township, prompting detectives to launch an investigation.
Authorities determined that Scher, Wayne school board’s vice president, purchased the drug and had them mailed to an address in the township, Valdes said.

When her husband attempted to retrieve the package, he was intercepted by police, the prosecutor said.
They were released on a summons complaint and scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 4, Valdes said.
They could face up to 18 month in prison for the marijuana possession charge and 18 months for the conspiracy charge, Valdes said.
Scher is employed at a school in the Passaic County School District and her school board seat is set to expire in 2021. Scher could not be immediately reached for comment.
