Wayne Schools to Have Delayed Opening Monday

The delay comes after the National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory for snow, sleet and freezing rain.

Wayne Public Schools will follow a delayed opening schedule on Monday, March 2 “due to the inclement weather scheduled for [Monday] morning.”

The schedule for Wayne students is as follows:

  • Grades 1‐5 10:25‐3:20
  • A.M. Kindergarten 10:25‐1:05
  • P.M. Kindergarten 12:40‐3:20
  • A.M. Preschool 9:50‐11:50
  • P.M. Preschool 12:45‐2:45
  • Full Day Preschool 9:50‐ 2:45
  • High Schools 8:50–2:16
  • Middle Schools 9:30‐2:45
  • Elem. Extended Day 8:45‐6:00

The delayed openings come after Winter Storm Sparta brought its “expansive” stripe of snow, sleet and freezing rain to New Jersey on Sunday.

The National Weather Service says a ”Winter Weather Advisory” will be in effect from 10 a.m. Sunday to 4 a.m. Monday, saying a mixture of snow, sleet and freezing rain will cover the entire state.

The weather conditions also have the potential to create a messy commute Monday morning.
