Wayne Sewer Improvement Project Gets $959K Boost From Feds

The township will receive federal dollars to support replacements of pumps at the Mountain View station to protect residents from flooding.

WAYNE, NJ — Wayne Township will get close to $960,000 in federal money to help protect residents from flooding, officials said.

According to U.S. Rep. Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11), all 15 of the community projects that she advocated for as part of this year’s federal budget cycle have been approved. President Joe Biden signed a spending package into law earlier this month, greenlighting the earmarks for the 11th District – including Wayne.

The township will receive $959,752 to support improvements that will help the Mountain View pump station manage stormwater. This pump station lies within the 100-year flood zone, and fortifying the station helps keep 5,500 properties in Wayne safe, Sherrill said.
