Wayne Township To Reopen Parks This Weekend
Wayne Township's mayor implores residents to continue practicing social distancing when using parks.
WAYNE, NJ — Wayne Township is set to reopen its parks this Saturday as allowed by an executive order signed Wednesday by Gov. Phil Murphy. The order also reopened state parks in New Jersey starting at sunrise on Saturday.
In a news conference Wednesday, Wayne Township Mayor Christopher Vergano said he originally chose to close the parks out of a concern that overflow park-goers from state parks would inundate Wayne's parks and put visitors at a higher risk of getting sick.
Wayne Township's parks will open at sunrise on Saturday, the mayor said. Open parks include High Mountain Park Reserve, Laurelwood Arboretum, Waks Field, and the Alps Road Sports Complex. "This is very good news," Vergano said.
