Woman Shot Dead Near Railroad Tracks In North Jersey, Officials Say

Police reportedly found the woman with a gunshot wound to her head early Wednesday morning. No arrests have been announced.

PATERSON, NJ — A woman was found fatally shot early Wednesday morning near some freight train tracks in Paterson, according to officials and reports.

Police arrived near the intersection of 18th Avenue and East 27th Street at around 3:15 a.m. on a report of shots fired, officials said. They discovered the unidentified woman with a single gunshot wound.

Law enforcement sources told the Paterson Press that the woman had been shot in the head. First responders pronounced her dead at the scene.

No arrests have been announced at this time, and the investigation is ongoing. The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office and Paterson Police did not release further details as of noon Wednesday.
