A New Jersey high school student died this month after being hit by a car while bicycling with a group out of state, school officials said.

WEST WINDSOR, NJ - A New Jersey high school student died this month after being hit by a car while bicycling with a group out of state, school officials said.

Aarav Shah, a rising junior at West Windsor-Plainsboro High School North, was remembered as an “actively involved” school community member in a social media post from school superintendent David Aderhold detailing the tragedy.

It wasn’t immediately clear where or when Shah was hit.

Shah participated in the West Windsor-Plainsboro High School North golf team and competed in several New Jersey Junior PGA Tour events, according to NJ.com.

Aderhold also offered support to students and staff, announcing that counselors will be available at the school both in-person and virtually.

"If you feel that your son or daughter is having difficulty coping with this event, please let us know as soon as possible," Aderhold said. "As always, our counselors and administration will remain accessible to the entire student body."
