West Windsor Preserved Farmland/Warehouse vs. High-Density Housing

Vote Marathe-Geevers-Charles - Proven Leaders for West Windsor

The relatively small warehouse on Route 571 on the border of East Windsor near the NJ Turnpike was part of a settlement with the developer, who was taking legal action with the town to build close to 600 high-density residential units on the property. This development would have occupied a much larger footprint than the warehouse - see the pictures.

The fact is that new residential growth, without commercial ratables, is a big revenue loser for the town because it cannot pay for the additional school burden. For example, our school district spends $21K per pupil; a single-family house that pays $20K in property taxes only provides about $11K to the schools, so that means everyone else’s taxes have to go up to subsidize the shortfall.

Instead, now 25 acres of farmland is now being preserved which otherwise would have been paved over and destroyed forever.

The warehouse is only 1 mile from the Route 133 interchange, which connects to the NJ turnpike. And it will generate approximately $900K annual in property taxes, with no new burden on schools and much less burden on other services such as police, EMS, etc.

Our opponents and their surrogates criticize this decision - while offering zero thought as to what they would have done differently.

If you want rational decisions, vote for Mayor Hemant Marathe, Council Vice President Linda Geevers, and Council Candidate Joe Charles - the Proven Leaders for West Windsor.
